My wife and I live in Falls Church, Virginia and we love to take Saturday road trips. They are a great excuse to escape the noise and stench of the Beltway and explore the countryside. With that in mind, I’m going to list a few of the routes we have discovered and hope others might like to retrace our steps and share some of their own photographs and experiences.
As a general rule, I try to limit any one-day road trip to three hours of driving, one way. After food breaks, pit stops and time poking around with the cameras, it makes for an eight to ten hour run. None of the following trips are longer and some are much shorter.
In the name of convenience, I’m going to start each suggested run from a DC beltway exit.
- Point of Rocks via Leesburg
- Harper’s Ferry to Shannondale
- River Road in Maryland, White’s Ferry and Red Rock Overlook Park
More to come…
